How Lightning Lanes Work at Disneyland

At Disneyland, Lightning Lanes are a part of the park's paid system designed to help guests skip the regular standby lines and reduce wait times for certain attractions. This system replaces the previous FastPass system. Here's how it works:

1. Lightning Lane Access

  • Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a paid service that grants access to the Lightning Lane at select attractions, allowing guests to bypass the regular standby lines. It costs a daily fee (typically around $25–$30 per person per day), depending on the time of year.

2. Making Lightning Lane Reservations

  • Once you purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can start making Lightning Lane reservations through the Disneyland app once you enter the park.

  • You can only hold one reservation at a time, though once you’ve used that reservation or it’s time for the next one, you can make another one for a different attraction. There are usually limits on how often you can book new reservations, such as once every 2 hours, or when you’ve used your current one.

  • Reservations are subject to availability, so some popular attractions may sell out quickly.

3. Individual Lightning Lane (a la carte)

  • Some of the most popular and high-demand attractions, such as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or Radiator Springs Racers, are not included with Lightning Lane Multi Pass. These attractions have their own a la carte Individual Lightning Lane option.

  • Guests can purchase access to the Individual Lightning Lane for these specific rides for an additional fee (typically ranging from $20 to $30 per ride, depending on demand).

  • You don’t need to purchase Lighting Lane Multi Pass to purchase Individual Lightning Lanes

4. Using the Lightning Lane

  • Once you’ve made a reservation, head to the Lightning Lane entrance of the attraction at your designated time window.

  • Scan your ticket or smartphone at the Lightning Lane entrance, bypassing the regular standby line.

5. Key Points to Remember

  • If you don’t use a reservation, it expires, so you can't keep multiple reservations at once.

  • Reservations are limited, so the earlier you make your reservations, the better the chances of securing popular attractions.

  • Not all rides offer Lightning Lane access, so guests will have to use the standby line for those
